Hong Yinxing is honorary chairman of the Yangtze IDEI of Nanjing University director of the academic committee and chief expert on economic transformation research in China. He is Han Chinese and was born in September 1950 in Changzhou Jiangsu. He started his career in December 1968 and joined the Communist Party of China in October 1970. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics (graduated from the Renmin University of China in 1987) was a professor (in 1989) and Ph.D. supervisor (in 1993).
Social work:
He is a vice-chairman of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, member of the Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Engineering Expert Group, expert in the Planning Group of the National Social Science Found of China, chairman of the Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences Circles, director of the National Comprehensive University 'Capital' Research Association, member of the Theoretical Economics Discipline Appraisal Group of the 4th and 5th Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and is the deputy editor-in-chief of the Economist journal.
Academic honor:
He was awarded 'Winner of Chinese Doctor’s Degree with Outstanding Contributions' by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the State Education Commission in 1991. He earned special government allowances in 1992, and he was awarded the title of 'National Outstanding Mid-Aged Experts' in 1994. He visited the United States as a distinguished scholar of the Sino-US Fulbright Program in September 2000.
