The three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Shanghai) are the important intersections of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and "One Belt One Road", and one of the regions with the most active economic development, the highest degree of openness, and the strongest innovation capability in China. In recent years, with the steady progress of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, three provinces and one city have closer economic ties with all provinces in China and all countries in the world, and gradually develop into a pattern with the Yangtze River Delta as the leader and multi-regional centers developing together.

The manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Delta also plays an important role in the global value chain. Compared with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Pearl River Delta region and Sichuan-Chongqing region, the three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta have advantages in textile and clothing, machinery manufacturing, vehicle manufacturing, computer and electronic industries, and the export volume created ranks high. Compared with other regions in China, the participation of three provinces and one city in the international division of labor in the Yangtze River Delta is also relatively high. At the same time, the Yangtze River Delta has a higher position in the global value chain and is located in the upper reaches of the industrial chain. However, compared with the United States and other developed economies, its export volume and export structure only have certain advantages in the labor-intensive textile and garment industry, while machinery manufacturing and other industries are at a relatively backward level in the international division of labor, and its participation in the global value chain is also at a disadvantage. From the perspective of division of labor, the manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Delta is still at the middle and low end of the global value chain. This report tries to show the internal and external economic ties of the Yangtze River Delta under the dual circulation pattern, so as to provide an important reference basis for the development of the Yangtze River Delta in the future.
